I am a visual artist at Carmel High School and have been involved in the art program since freshman year. Through the years, my love for painting grew to involve all media, throwing photography and graphic design into the mix. In recent months, I have had the time to reflect on my identity as a person and an artist, which in turn has motivated me to create works that align with my mind’s eye rather than emulate the works of others. I plan to continue creating content that embraces my creative authentically, while I pursue a degree in Graphic Design and eventually forge a career in the field of design.

The freedom of online schooling has allowed me to really explore my artistic boundaries and immerse myself in all the media I work with. Experimenting with collage, utilizing photographic and painting elements, I have enjoyed exploring the human psyche and attempting to illustrate the metaphysical experiences of life.

My most recent work, The Art of Being, is a piece inspired by my spiritual journey towards a higher and more peaceful consciousness. As physical distractions in my life got stripped away, I became more aware of the mental distractions that also took a toll on my perceived reality. This particular piece takes inspiration from my current reading of The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle, which communicates the sensation that comes with claiming a conscious presence in life.
