Hello, my name is Julian Chuca, I’m 17 years old and I attend North Salinas High as a senior. I’m a student athlete and I play football and I run track. I’m very passionate about sports, and I love the game more than anything, but a lot of times my passion gets in the way of my raw love for the sport. My constant desire for approval and for other people to be proud of me gets in the way of my true purpose of playing sports. This piece tells the story of how my passion pushes me to be the best I can be in everyone else’s eyes. This piece shows how everyone is going to have their own interpretation of you. But the main idea of this piece is to show that none of those interpretations matter except your own, and to never let those interpretations shape you. I took inspiration from the song “Ghost Town” by Kanye West. The song's meaning is centered around self discovery, and embracing one’s true self. This piece is also centered around letting go of seeking acceptance and approval, and to truly do what makes you happy.
