I feel art is a cycle of connection and inspiration. Often connections made through art have been the strongest ones that I have been fortunate enough to experience. The thought of losing these memories is the most terrifying, and because of this I choose to keep us forever connected through art.

Most recently I’ve gained an intense connection to my Hungarian heritage through different forms of art such as folk singing and dancing. During a folk dance rehearsal I met one of the most beautiful dancers I’ve ever seen. Gergo Bolgovics is an abstract Hungarian-Slovakian artist.

The white spiraling of the structure, represents the power and stability that isn’t visible to the naked eye when first meeting an artist. While the wires represent the energy felt when he dances, the oil pastel is a blending material that I’ve used to represent blending stability with the unknown I still have through this connection. The frame is a more abstract portrait of him that is not making eye contact with you because he never does.

As an artist I strive to have abstract art seen in a more serious light. I aim to show it can have far deeper meaning that people tend to not see, just like our first impressions of people.
