Guidelines
Carmel Art Association will provide each participating student with a wooden panel that may be used for either 2D or 3D media. Allowable media includes: painting, drawing, pastel, sculpture, printmaking, & collage. No photography or digital work – unless it is part of a mixed media piece. The wooden panel can serve as a base for 3D work.
Guidelines:
Panel edges must be finished. NO WET PAINT allowed. The committee and staff of the Gallery reserve the right to refuse wet artworks (This is a storage issue. Please have your students plan their projects accordingly so that the work is completely dry at drop-off)
Your name and school must be on your artwork (written on the back of the panel.)
An Artist Statement and a photo of the artist are required and due with each completed art piece.
All work must be for sale. 80% of the sale will go to the artist, 20% commission to the Gallery. Suggestions on how to price artwork can be found on the For The Love of Art website here: https://www.caaftloagallery.com/how-to-price-artwork
Ceramic work must be durable enough to be transported and displayed without damages.
No purely photographic or digital work.
Category Definitions
Painting: oil, acrylic, water media, and ink with a brush.
Drawing: pencil, pen, charcoal, markers, conte, pastel, pen and ink.
Sculpture (3 dimensional objects): Sculptures must be at LEAST 1/2 inches in height to be included in the sculpture category.
* All sculptures must be securely attached to the panels for transport and display.
Mixed Media: Lettering and images, dissimilar media, combining painting and drawing, and or collage elements and found objects.
