Amanda Rangel, Aztec Tribute with A Hint of Modernism, ink, acrylic, wood burn, $130, SOLD

This work right here is a tribute to the Aztecs' art style. Nowadays I don't see modern art using this style, so I thought it would be fun to explore the Ancient Mayans' and Aztecs' Art. I even purposely made mistakes in the panel to make it feel older and more realistic. No offense to our Mesoamericans of course.

Although it's a tribute, this is also a self-portrait since the four figures you see are me performing my favorite activities. Such as painting, playing, sleeping, and eating. Four traits that anyone can relate and therefore connect with the art. Speaking of connecting, I also hid a few modern symbols to make it more fun to look at. Some sticking out more than others.

I want to thank my Mesoamerican ancestors for inspiring me to make this piece as their art sticks out uniquely in today's day and age.
